Garage Cabinet Installer

When we approach garage cabinet installations at EastSide Cabinet Solutions, we shift our focus toward heavy-duty durability and maximizing utility. The garage environment is unique; it deals with concrete floors that are rarely level, significant temperature swings, and the storage of much heavier items than you would find in a kitchen. Our installation process is designed to turn a cluttered garage into a streamlined workshop or storage hub that can withstand the demands of a rugged environment.

Ground Clearance and Moisture Protection

The first and most important consideration in a garage is the floor. Concrete slabs are engineered with a slope to allow for water drainage, which means we cannot simply set cabinets flat on the ground. To solve this, we typically install our garage cabinetry using a floating method or by using heavy-duty adjustable steel legs.

By mounting the cabinets several inches off the floor, we protect the wood from moisture, road salt, and dirt that can accumulate in a garage. This also makes it easy for you to hose out or sweep the floor underneath the cabinets. During this stage, we use long-range laser levels to ensure that even if your floor drops two inches from one side of the room to the other, your workbenches and storage units remain perfectly level and aligned.

High-Capacity Wall Anchoring

Close-up of Amish-made solid wood cabinet construction showing natural grain in Chester County, PA Garage cabinets often hold significant weight, from power tools and paint cans to heavy sporting equipment. Because of this, our anchoring process is much more robust than standard interior installations. We identify the primary wall studs and use oversized rugged cabinet screws to ensure the load is distributed across the home’s framing.

If we are installing extra-deep "tall-boy" lockers, we pay special attention to the top-heavy nature of these units. We secure them at multiple points to prevent any tipping, ensuring the system is safe even when fully loaded. We also account for the presence of concrete "stem walls" (the concrete lip at the bottom of many garage walls) by custom-notching the back of the cabinets so they sit flush against the drywall above the concrete, maximizing every inch of available floor space.

Integrating Worksurfaces and Tool Organization

A great garage system often centers around a functional workbench. Once the base cabinets are anchored, we install high-durability tops, such as thick butcher block or stainless steel. We ensure these surfaces are braced to handle the vibrations of machinery or the impact of heavy projects.

We also specialize in installing integrated organization systems, such as slatwall or pegboard backsplashes, between the upper and lower cabinets. We align these systems perfectly with the cabinet edges to create a seamless, professional look. This allows you to hang frequently used tools exactly where you need them. Finally, we install industrial-grade hinges and handles designed to be gripped easily, even if you’re wearing work gloves.
